All change at Douglas & Gordon
Douglas & Gordon has reshuffled its branch managers in a bid to reinvigorate the business.
More than half of its 14 branch managers have been transferred as part of the reshuffle, with two made redundant in the process.
Speaking exclusively to The Negotiator, Douglas & Gordon managing director Ivor Dickinson says: “The departures have enabled me to undertake the reshuffle. There is a belief in agency that you should leave someone in a branch so clients can get to know them well, but the other side of that is that people get stale.”
He adds: “A reshuffle can be seen as a promotion by staff.”
The overhaul means that Douglas & Gordon now has new managers in its branches in Battersea Park, Fulham, East and West Putney, Kensington and Balham.
The South West London-based agency currently has 172 staff across its sales, lettings and valuations teams, down from 187 18 months ago. Dickinson says he has reduced his sales teams by around 50%, but is now in the throes of rebuilding them.
Meanwhile, he has negotiated a 20% reduction in rent across his branches for the next year, which he says equates to around £10,000.
