Branch closure halts LSL franchise strategy

The closure of an ex-Halifax office has delayed the expansion of LSL Property Services' franchise network in Northern Ireland.

The Northern Ireland-based franchised office was part of Halifax Estate Agencies Limited, which LSL acquired for £1 last month.

Simon Oldfield, Reeds Rains' franchise director, says the group originally planned to integrate the branch into the Reeds Rains franchise network, but this plan was aborted following the franchisee's decision to quit the business on expiry of both his Halifax franchise license and his office lease. It means that Reeds Rains does not currently have a franchise presence in Northern Ireland, though Oldfield says there are plans underway to establish a franchise operation there.

Reeds Rains already has a presence in Northern Ireland through its eight owned offices, while LSL's other agency businesses, Your Move and Intercounty, have respective franchise networks across the mainland.
