Myhomemove hits the Newmans road
Staff at national conveyancing firm Myhomemove took to the saddle last week to help raise funds for Sean Newman's Cycle Across America 2010 campaign.
As The Negotiator reported last month, Newman, chairman of Newman Estate Agents, was left with broken legs, back and pelvis after being knocked down on interstate 90 in Louisiana by a truck travelling at 70 miles-per-hour.
Newman and colleague and friend James Golding (pictured) were aiming to cycle 3,500 miles across America in 30 days to raise £100,000 for cancer charities following Golding’s recovery from the illness a year ago.
Their three chosen cancer charities include Cancer Support, CoppaFeel and Livestrong.
To help the men hit their target, myhomemove staff undertook a relay, cycling the remaining 1,000 miles left on the challenge on two exercise bikes set up in their office lobby.
Stephen Hayter, national sales director at myhomemove, says: "Sean Newman is one of the nicest guys you'll meet and he does so much work for charity. News of his accident in America shocked everyone here at myhomemove and we really wanted to do something to help him out in reaching his £100,000 goal."
The exercise bikes were donated by Karen Wootton and Everyone Active of Enderby Leisure Centre. Wootton's husband, Terry, is a former double Ironman triathlete and has recently been diagnosed as having terminal cancer.
