Rightmove bolsters services with e-magazine
Rightmove is launching a free weekly e-magazine that highlights price reductions on its listed properties.
Called Property Deal Weekly, the e-magazine will automatically feature asking price reductions of 2% or more that have occurred on the portal over the previous week.
Rightmove believes the magazine, which launches on April 21, will help agents negotiate price reductions with their vendors to encourage sales, as well as act as an additional marketing tool for agents - reduced property will appear for free.
There will be 45 regional editions of the e-magazine, covering the whole of the UK, which will be sent by email to Rightmove's registered users. It will also be available at www.Propertydeal.co.uk.
Miles Shipside (pictured), Rightmove's commercial director, says: "Agents are all too aware that cash-rich and mortgage-ready buyers, although out there, are in short supply - and in a position to drive a hard bargain. It's also true that making vendors understand this and reduce their asking price to saleable levels is a frustrating daily challenge.
"Referring them to the deals available in Property Deal Weekly may help the penny drop quicker, especially if they see they can trade up to a bargain too. We anticipate switched on agents will use the carrot of free adverts in Property Deal Weekly to help sellers reduce more often, with the promise of grabbing the attention of those elusive buyers."
Luke Bennett, director of South West London-based SW19 estate agency, says:
"There are still some unrealistically priced properties out there so it will be useful. The more information there is, the better."
He adds: "What would also be good is one [an e-magazine] that shows price increases as well, to give an idea of what's going on in the market."
