TDPG chiefs cycle to Paris for charity

Four punctures, three new tyres and one broken chain were just some of the obstacles faced by two of The Digital Property Group’s chiefs on a London to Paris charity bike ride last month.

As part of a team of seven, chief executive officer, Mark Milner, and chief operating officer, Richard Shamsi (pictured), also endured torrential rain on the second day of their four-day cycle, which covered 314 miles, finishing on the Champs Elysees.

Milner says he and Shamsi required numerous energy bars to replace the 36,000 calories they burned between them during the challenge as they tackled 94 miles on day one, 88 miles on day two, 71 miles on day three and 61 miles on day four.

The pair expect their team's efforts to have raised between £11,000 and £12,000 in aid of Action Medical Research, which helps boost the overall fund raising efforts of the ride to £850,000. AMR is a medical research company specialising in children’s health, such as premature childbirth.

Milner says: “In the UK, a heart-wrenching 25 premature babies die each week; AMR is committed to reducing this, so the money has gone to a very worthwhile cause.”

TDPG is the headline sponsor for The Negotiator Awards 2009, which will be hosted at London's Hilton Hotel on Park Lane on November 11.
