TDPG undertakes mass hiring spree

The Digital Property Group has kicked off a recruitment drive in a bid to close its gap on Rightmove.

Some 15 new roles have been created across sales, marketing, IT, new product development, customer service and finance, which will be split between the group’s offices in London and Brighton.

Mark Milner, chief executive of the group, says: “We have been steadily closing the gap between ourselves and Rightmove over the past year. In fact, we are the only one of the top three property portal publishers to have recorded positive year-on-year growth according to independent audience research.

“Recruiting the right individuals will assist us in further closing the gap.”

The group’s most recent hires include Alan Whiteley as head of software development. He has previously worked for Lastminute.com and AOL. Sarah Bowerman has been appointed as talent manager, the same position she previously held at Yahoo.com, and Shaun Bolton is group infrastructure manager, having worked previously for Reuters and Dow Jones. Former consultant Matt Cohan has been appointed as head of product management.

There have also been new additions to the customer care and IT departments.

Milner claims that the group has recorded a year-on-year increase in traffic of 6%, with enquiries in June 2009 reaching one every 2.66 seconds.
