Agents prepare for open house bonanza

Countrywide is to showcase more than 10,000 properties worth a staggering £1.7bn as part of a national open house event this weekend.

Around 38 chains of estate agents and new home agents across the group in England, Scotland and Wales are involved in the initiative, with brands including Abbotts, Alan de Maid, Alder King, Austin  Wyatt, Bairstow Eves, Beresford Adams, Bridgfords, Buckell  Ballard, Carsons, Chappell Matthews, Countrywide Estate Agents, Mann Countrywide and Wilson Peacock.

More than 10,000 homeowners are understood to have signed up to the event, which is expected to exploit buyer interest in the run up to Christmas.

Robert Scarff, managing director of Countrywide Estate Agents, which was named Estate Agency of the Year (national chain) at The Negotiator Awards 2009, says: “The uncertainty of 2008 left many buyers – mostly families – sitting on their hands. Now that prices have stabilised and there is greater mortgage availability we have seen a significant increase in buyer interest.

“The open house weekend is an opportunity for potential home movers to see the widest selection of properties available and will bring together thousands of committed buyers and sellers to agree a sale before Christmas.”
