Countrywide Estate Agents reveals 2010 strategy
Countrywide Estate Agents plans to recruit between 250 and 300 staff next year as part of its ongoing growth strategy.
Speaking exclusively to The Negotiator, Robert Scarff, managing director of the Countrywide group division, says: “Clearly, if the market is more buoyant than we expect, we will recruit more, and equally, if it is worse, we will recruit less.”
Scarff who was appointed as managing director in January 2008, is also planning to roll out a £6m refurbishment programme across a number of his branches. He expects transaction volumes to increase by 15% next year, based on existing pipelines, which he claims will lead to sales being double January 2008 levels next month.
Countrywide’s recent Open House event generated 2,363 offers on 1,831 properties collectively valued at £370.9m. The division’s 1,000 branches and 38 regional brands, which include Bairstow Eves, Bridgfords, Mann & Co, Abbotts, Dixons, Fulfords, Frank Innes, Slater Hogg & Howison and Beresford Adams, took part in the weekend.
Scarff says: “The Open House results are fantastic and reflect the determination of our branch staff throughout the country who have helped us lift our overall sales volume by 9% compared with the week before which is in turn a 46% increase on the same week last year.
“Open House has made a huge impact and driven our sales upwards at a time when Christmas festivities might typically have seen the market slow down”
