Estate agency of the year (Independent)

The criteria:

Open to smaller firms, based in a local area, and with no more than six offices

For this award the judges will be looking for evidence of (most, if not all) of the following:

  • How has the business developed? Please provide data that indicates your headline performance over the last three years by filling in the grid on the back of this form.
  • What new services/initiatives have you developed or launched over the last three years?
  • Explain their rationale and the impact they have had.
  • Adaptability to the current economic climate.
  • What new innovations have you introduced? These could be technical/IT, marketing or financial.
  • What have you done to develop your staff? Explain your training philosophy, and how much you invest per member of staff each year on training and CPD.
  • Have you been involved in other issues that help the local community or the environment - for example fund raising, recycling etc? If so please explain what you have achieved.

Estate agency of the year (Regional chain)

The criteria:

We define a regional chain as being limited to one of the recognised regions of the UK

For this award the judges will be looking for evidence of (most, if not all) of the following:

  • How has the business developed? Please provide data that indicates your headline performance over the last three years by filling in the grid on the back of this form.
  • What new services/initiatives have you developed or launched over the last three years?
  • Explain their rationale and the impact they have had.
  • Adaptability to the current economic climate.

The criteria:

Entrants for the national agency category must have permanently staffed offices in at least two regions

For this award the judges will be looking for evidence of (most, if not all) of the following:

  • How has the business developed? Please provide data that indicates your headline performance over the last three years by filling in the grid on the back of this form.
  • What new services/initiatives have you developed or launched over the last three years?
  • Explain their rationale and the impact they have had.
  • Adaptability to the current economic climate.

This category is open to any stand alone locally based lettings firms or agents that have a recognised lettings department. It is aimed at firms with no more than six offices

The criteria:

This category is open to any regionally based lettings chain. It is also open to agency firms that have a recognised lettings department that operates from offices across one of the recognised regions of the UK

For this award the judges will be looking for evidence of (most, if not all) of the following:

  • How has the business developed? Please provide data that indicates your headline performance over the last three years by filling in the grid on the back of this form.
  • What new services/initiatives have you developed or launched over the last three years?
  • Explain their rationale and the impact they have had.

The criteria:

(This category is open to firms that have a strong residential auctioneering team - as part of a bigger firm - or are stand alone specialists in this particular field)

For this award the judges will be looking for evidence of (most, if not all) of the following:

  • What new services/initiatives have you developed or launched over the last three years? Explain their rationale and the impact they have had.

Land and new homes agency of the year

The criteria:

For this award we want entrants to provide answers to all the bullet points listed below.

  • How has the business developed? Please provide data that indicates your headline performance over the last three years by filling in the grid on the back of this form.
  • What new services/initiatives have you developed or launched over the last three years? Explain their rationale and the impact they have had.
  • Adaptability to the current economic climate.
  • What new innovations have you introduced? These could be technical/IT, marketing or financial.
  • What have you done to develop your staff? Explain your training philosophy, and how much you invest per member of staff each year on training and CPD.
  • Have you been involved in other issues that help the local community or the environment - for example fund raising, recycling etc? If so please explain what you have achieved.

  • Also please indicate what proportion of all the properties you are instructed on would be classified as New Homes.
  • Please also include a list of the house builders who regularly instruct you, and provide a short case study highlighting one of your best recent sales campaigns.

Estate agency marketing team of the year

The criteria:

To enter you must provide details of new marketing techniques and examples of successful marketing campaigns.

Please remember to, wherever possible, back up your marketing claims with facts and figures.

Remember to include images of good examples of what you've done - testimonials, press cuttings, brochures, sample ads, web grabs etc - as part of your four page entry submission.

(Please note: we do not want you to send in sample brochures or other marketing material as part of your entry)

Estate agency financial services team of the year

The criteria:

If you have a Financial Services team in your office, you are eligible to enter for this award, whether this is a franchised, white-label or your own operation.

the judges want to know how effective your Financial Services are and how the business has developed.

What proportion of applicants are introduced by your negotiators, and what proportion of these then go on to use your financial services?

Please include a full list of all the financial services you provide.

What level of repeat business are you securing?

Estate agency employer of the year

The criteria:

Entries are welcome from the management of estate agency firms, or from members of staff who genuinely feel their firm is a great place to work (but if you are nominating a firm please make sure the management know!

In your entry explain why the firm is such a good place to work.

Please provide your staff churn rate, and explain your recruitment strategy.

We also want you to outline the training and CPD that goes on; the mentoring that takes place and the firm's culture, and how this engenders employment best practice.

  • Do the team have an active social calendar?
  • What are the office facilities like?
  • Are there any really special perks that make your office stand out?
  • What is the gender and ethnic balance?
  • How is good performance rewarded?
  • Is it possible to advance through the business quickly - if so highlight one or two examples.

Estate agency service firm of the year

The criteria:

This category is open to any type of "service supplier" to the estate agency sector - so for example HIP providers, conveyancers, solicitors, search firms, technology providers, mortgage brokers.

Please provide details of the service you provide and explain how it has helped estate agents boost their service standards, instructions and/or profitability.

Estate agency innovation award

The criteria:

This category is aimed at rewarding any type of innovation that an estate agency firm has developed - so it might be a technical innovation, or it could be a financial or marketing innovation. 

Be sure to explain how your breakthrough works and try to quantify the impact it could have across the wider world of estate agency. A good testimonial or example of its impact could also be useful

The estate agency newcomer award

The criteria

(This category is only open to businesses formed since January 1st 2006. General agency sales or lettings firms, or any type of specialist firm is eligible).

For this award we want entrants to provide answers to all the following bullet points:

  • How has the business developed? Please provide data that indicates your headline performance over the last three years by filling in the grid on the back of this form.
  • What new services/initiatives have you developed or launched over the last three years?
  • Explain their rationale and the impact they have had.
  • Adaptability to the current economic climate.

  • What have you done to develop your staff? Explain your training philosophy, and how much you invest per member of staff each year on training and CPD.

Please also explain the launch of the firm, your broad business strategy and how you have funded the firm, and detail the progress you have made since you started up.

Estate agency leader of the year

The criteria:

Who has been the leader that's impressed his or her peers more than anyone else?

This award will go to the chief executive or senior partner of the agency firm - large or small - that has consistently excelled over the last few years.

Please provide details of leadership skills and a case study, which highlights support of staff and/or business growth.

 Employees or marketing departments can nominate candidates for this award; and the judges may suggest people they feel have been outstanding.

If you are nominating someone please make sure they are happy to have their name put forward.

Estate agency green champion

The criteria:

What has your firm done to make the world a greener place?

In your entry explain your overall sustainability strategy, the targets you've set yourself and the progress you've made to date.

  • Have you managed to reduce your use of energy and water? If so, how, and how much have you saved?
  • What have you achieved on the recycling front?
  • What have you done to reduce the use of cars?
  • What about your approach to encouraging natural habitats and biodiversity?
  • If you measure your overall carbon footprint, what impact have you made?

The Supreme Negotiator award for the most admired agency firm of the year

You cannot formally enter this category; The Negotiator will be forming a special Academy of the most influential people in the industry who will vote for the firm they admire the most.
